Hi everybody
I just took the step 1 last may 31st, my question to you is if according to your experience, do you think is it possible to be certified for the ECFMG in time to be able toparticipate in the 2005 match, I mean, I have to take the step 2CK and CS, and I dont know if I have enough time to do it, what could you advice ?

hey there.....
its gonna be real tight for you.
technically you can participate in the match with you step 1 score only...but your chances are brighter with step 2 ck and cs.
PDs start looking at applications from september onwards.... and you have good chance to get more interviews if you try and finish your exams latest by nov begining. the deadline for cs is jan 31/05 for making 2005 match but thats just the rule on paper.its always better to finish it much earlier so more programmes call you for interview.

You can get certified before match but just b4 match. I too am on the same path. Everything could have been perfect but CS dates r running out. That had created a lot of problem. If you have scores of step 1 on hand, which I dont think u hav, then u shuld take the date of CS asap.
Well, I am taking CK in august and CS as soon as I get the date (perhaps december first week is the earliest i would be getting). So, earliest I would be certified would be Jan 2005, however, I would be able to take interviews if at all, I get any calls.

Dont worry George I think you have time to participate in the match. Keep checking the Oasis, as soon as you get the red screen for passing send your application for CS, dont delay for a day even. I hope you can get a date before 31st december. All this if you are in US rightnow.
I think there would be more slots for CS coming, becuz they have to accomodate all american grads atleast (they dont care much about IMGs). So try to register as early as you can, it takes 10-15 working days after you submit your application that you d be able to register. By the dates you have given I think you should be able to register in the fist week of July and I hope you ll still get a date before 31st dec.
Besides all this I think program directors would be accomodative this year because of delay in the result announcement for CS for everybody, so even if you ll only have 1 and 2 scores, you ll still have a good chance to get interviews.
