Pulmonay emboli in pregant lady.

What is the line of treatment ?

When are thrombolytics indicated in a case of PE ?

In PE, in general, anticoagulation is the first line Rx. Thrombolytics only for hypotensive or severely hypoxic pts coming to hospital in first few hours of onset of symptoms.

In pregnancy only anticoagulation should be considered. IV Heparin is the choice. LMWH's are safer and are given in PE in pregnancy.

Its right that heparin is used in pregnant cases of PE but i have a doubt, wann know which route is commonly used IV or SQ ?

 thrombolytics r indicated in PE case when its life threatening /refractory cases/hypoxemia/hypotension .

LMWH is given subcutaneously for PE.
