a 28yr old woman, G2P1 with a normal delivery in the past,now pregnant at 37wks, and comes to del ward for induction due to pre-eclampsia. the baby lies longitudinal, cephalic not engaged. at this time u rupture the membranes and give the pt a syntocinon infusion. in relation to the start of the first uterine contraction the foetus has bradycardia for 60 secs. what do u do next a. C/S b. do abd CTG c.do vag examn d. just observe e. oxytocin

I think its variable deceleration due to cord compression. The best choice would be to observe (none of other choices is applicable). Variable deceleration, if severe (> 60 seconds), may cause fetal acidosis.

the answer mentioned is observe, and monitor with Cardiotocography. :roll:
