Kaplan Qbank USMLE

hi!

i've been doing patho brs since the last week of may. i devote 5-6 hours of study daily except on weekends. as i've said in the past i'm a slow reader (my mind tend to wander from time to time), i covered ana and physio kaplan in two months. i hope to finish patho brs this week since i'm more than halfway through. with this kind of pace, do you think i should move the exam schedule? i'm aiming for the last week of august, and i'm afraid i have to squeeze in all the rest of the subjects in first aid. i'm afraid that if i move the exam sched, i might forget what i've read so far. but i'm equally scared that if i don't cover the rest of the subjects in kaplan, i might not be able to answer the questions right. what do you suggest?

i personally feel that we need atleast one month for revision,so if u can finish all the subjects by July, then u can revise in August and take teh exam,if u feel u cant finish all the subjects by july, then i think it would be better to reschedule ur exam, just my thoughts, others who have finished Step 1 can advice,im taking mine only on July 31st.

Even i feel revision is very important and it takes time.
So be sure to give atleast one month for the revision. And also manage to do the q banks. So considering all the factors if u want to gve ur exam in august..u shd be done with all subjects by the end of this month or till mid of next month. So u will give enough time for questions and revision.
Again i am also telling u from my personal experience.

thanks DOCARJUN and tasneembanu!

i agree that we have to atleast do the revisions for easy recall and understanding

which one is the best step for me to do considering my pace:

a) squeeze in micro/immuno, pharma, biochem, beh sci in first aid; then do the revisions plus questions for a month (and i may be able to push through with august)

b)make sure i read the four subjects in kaplan even though it might mean a month for each (that might mean moving the exam till oct/nov); then do the questions plus revisions for a month

c) other suggestions

personally i feel first aid alone is not enough for any subject, but i dont think u dont need i month for each subject,15 would be enough,if ur comfortable to postpone, then u can postpone and do teh exam well, but still these r just my personal sugesstions, pls think and decide.

thank you guys for reminding me that there is no short cut and easy way to success 8) we have to work hard and follow the time tested formulae shared in this forum, and that is to go through the books (like kaplan, and other recommended ones), that first aid is good, but just as an aid and not the sole source of review grin

i just finished patho brs grin and will start on micro/immuno kaplan after i finish with the comprehensive exam for patho.

thanks everyone, you're the best!
