Hi, I'm from Poland... Well originally at least, I've been the U.S. for 11 years. Surprisingly enough I'm going back "to the roots" and I'm starting my first year medical school in Warsaw in October. Any sugestions to a new medschool student? email me back at m-mol@neiu.edu because I don't know if I'll have time to come back to this forum. I just kind of discovered it by chance. Thanks for any input... Mike

Hi! I've finished med school in Poznan in 1999. Right now, I'm in Chicago, trying to get residency. I've already obtained my ECFMG certificate and have recently taken Step 3. The reason I have not yet started residency here in the States is due to personal/family reasons. Anyway, I've have alot of friends/colleagues who have finished residency and have either started into their respective practices or fellowships. I'm fully confident that no matter where you go to school, if you work hard and SMART, you can make your dreams come true. Remember, it is important to emphasize in your studies the topics relevant to the US exams. I know that European med schools often conduct their exams differently than the US counterparts. Still, it does not make IMG's any less prepared to be doctors in the US. :!: We have studied everything that the US students have. I suggest that if you cannot afford one of the professional review courses, go to e-bay and purchase Kaplan's Q-bank, along with www.usmleworld.com(a wonderful, thorough review for about $35.00). (No I will not get any kickbacks from either business). With both of these, and with practice of the USMLE CD that is sent to you with your registration, you should at least pass on the first shot, if you really dedicate yourself. Anyway, I'm interested to hear if anyone has any other perspective of the road to becoming a US licensed and trained physician who studied in the beautiful land of Poland. Good luck to all/Powodzenia!

I just finished four years of medical school in Katowice, Poland. I am U.S. born but took med school in Poland. It was a great experience in the hospitals. I do feel that european medical education is comparable to U.S. education but I can't say if I am any more or less prepared for Step1.

Hi there, I am from Bulgaria and I´ve finished a bachelor degree in Biotechnology in US.However during these years,I found out that I would like to combine medicine and researh together. As u know ,it is very hard or even impossible to get into Med Schools when you are not US citizen...I´ve heard about the Poznan Medical School(Karol Machinkowski Medical School) which offers 4 years MD program taught in english and also accreditation in US and Europe.Did you graduate from there?Do you have more information about this school or do you know somebody that graduated from there... I will really, appreciate your help! Slavina
