why do they have feeding intolerance and presents with necrotizing enterocolitis? :?

NE appears several days after preterm birth. there is increase gastric residual which leads to ileus(as feedings dont leave GI tract). there is blood n undigested carbohydrates in stool), pneumatosis intestinalis (air bubbles in wall) . Complications intestinal perforation n sepsis. tx : stop feedings, antibiotics, hyperalimentation, try not to do surgery unless perforation n sepsis.
