Hello everybody at this forum. It is the first time I write, but I know about all of you fot the last 3 month that I am preaparing for the step 1 test . It is really important then that I tell you how it went yesterday. I am sorry to repeat what many have already said: "it is doable" (I never get the really meanning of this sentence until yesterday). It means that I studied and had idea of the questions, but no such the same for the answer. You easely find out what they are talking about and you can the same way discover the hiden desease the want you to find, even it sounds familiar because you have read about it, but then either the question or the answer is not what you read or heard in the texts and courses, but if you think al the way arround you can guess the answer. (I know it sound extrange, well that sensations you get many times when you read some questions, but if you go over youŽll get it). I recommend to practice samples test just for adjusting to the examen, practice with a clock, 60 minute, 50 questions. Already when you have past the second or the third block you have allusinations, those are normal, I mean, you read the first time a q that talks about a fireman that come to the emergency with a gunshut in his abdomen, but when you read the second time you realize that it is a 23 -year-old man who has been drinking a lot, etc. So, I recomend to stop at list 3 or five minutes after each block, close you eyes, or look something dark for few seconds in order to clean your brain, retina, images. Now, my test was similar to the many others in this forum. A lots of q of everything, not really difficult, but you have to study. Anatomy: traditional qs of lessions by brquial plexus, arm injuries with a broquen glass, and tell what nerve, muscule, or movement is impaired. Fisiology easy ones about cardiovascular, renal, hormones (sex hormones), respiratory Pharmacology: aids (you have to know), one or two antifungals, blockers, asthma. Biochemestry: many questions on purines and pyrimidines alterations, DNA, defects. No questions for use of Wienber formula (thanks God). Behavioral sciences: basic statistics (mean, moda, standar deviation), p, etc. Medical pacient situations. (Every thing is in FA) Microbiology: bacterias and some antibiotics, viral and site of action of drugs. What I consider important to read and it was a lot of, is Alcoholism, that is somthing you got to study in every way, from metaboilism, side efect on all metabolic pathway, pathology, enzimes, every effect, infections in, hormones in, I mean everything. Well all you there that are IMG, study exclusevely in english, and two or three months of study is more than enough, practice speed in reading. For the USA students I really donŽt know at this level of your carrers how many patients you have seen, but I tell you that many qs I knew for my years of practice, more than the books but I recommend then to do many test with clinical vignetes. Sorry I took me this long. Good Luck, and God bless you.[/quote]

what do you mean, "modified"? does this refer to the purported 2 different versions of the exam: 1) immuno/molbio and 2) path/pharm?
