Kaplan Qbank USMLE

i know this is totally a subject that has been beaten into the ground, but one more won't hurt, right?

so i took the kaplan full length today, which was difficult, but not horrible. i read somewhere that you can add 15 points to your percentage and this will reflect the *percentage* you will get on the actual usmle.

does anyone know for sure? if this is the case, i'll be very happy. if not...

Hi
I heard that too... but i think it's pretty accurate. what was your score in that test and when is your test? I will take that kaplan online simulated test in next week. Is the Qs same as online Q bank or they use diffirent Qs? Have you take NBME yet?

hey,

there were like 1 or 2 qs that were also in qbank, and 2 that were in the kaplan diagnostic exam.

i got a 72%, which is the same thing i got on the 4 hour diag a week ago bf i started path. i still haven't finished studying pharm or gone through and reviewed everything. there was a TON of anatomy on it, and that's definitely my worst thing. i hope the real exam doesn't have that much. i REALLY hope i don't get the "immuno/mol.bio" version of step 1 that i keep hearing about. what is molbio anyway???

i'm taking nbme at the end of the week. i'll keep you guys updated.

Mol.bio is Molecular biology!
oooh you scored 72 on that ....you are doing very good! i heard this simulated Kaplan is much much harder than the real one! So you are in the right path! keep going. When is your test?

i know, but what is molecular biology?? like, what subjects does it cover? what kind of questions do they mean?

i really hope do well considering the amount of time i've been putting into it. my test was originally on the 22nd, but i moved it to the 24th so i'd have more time to do the robbins review and finish listening to goljan.

Yes, I heard that too. I scored a 60% on the Kaplan on-line today-- not what I was hoping for! I do Q bank almost every day, scoring between 60-80% on each 50-question block. I feel like this is so inconsistent. It's really starting to freak me out, as I have my exam on the 25th.

Any feedback from others on their "inconsistencies"? I don't want to take the real thing when I'm on an off day. How does this compare to you all? I need some reassurance!

Oweno,

Correlating success rate of Swedish kingdom to a capitalist regime of immigrant Swedes in Pennsylvania is the same way I would look at relating and hugging my scores on those full lenghts to how well/ badly I would do on the USMLE1.

So don't freak! In my humble opinion, those Kaplan tests are meant to be HARD and meant to cover Kaplan's own bases...

I would believe a fortune teller as much as I would believe this simple arithmetic prophecy of "add 15 percentage points to your score and, voila, you have your USMLE1 score!"

Your true ability to shine will come during your actual exam, when you are confident, calm, and know that you did not let your score on some simulated exam dictate your performance.

So, head up, take stuff you read and hear with a grain of salt, and keep doing well on your Q-bank.

Good luck.

Ard --
smiling face Thanks -- I needed that! I have to just chill out. Maybe in a couple days I'll have a totally different attitude.
