I just started reviewing pathology but since all USMLE takers recommend Goljan's Pathology , it has been really difficult for me to choose one over other.I tried to read both ( Kaplan+Goljan ) and even tried to add from BRS too,but finally found out that using so many sources are not good and time consuming.Really need suggestions and advice from those who had already taken or going to take step 1 in near future .

start and stick with goljan, book and audio. i did brs, and after i was done i started listening to goljan and regretted not starting with him. he gets into the mechanisms really well, so you're learning a lot more than the time you're putting in. also, do the robbins path book. good luck!

got the cd. good for consolidating knowledge if you have the time. otherwise, i say stick with goljan and robbins question book. the robbins has great useful high yield pics, too, and good explanations.

actually, i have no idea about the new book in comparison to the ones he passed out with audio. i imagine it's comparable. i strongly recommend getting a hold of the audio, however. you really don't even need to do anything but listen. no note taking, no nothing.

Wasn't Goljan a Kaplan teacher, during which time these infamous notes/audio were generated? kaplan's probably sufficient for everything. i think people are just mentioning the gold standards for each subject. path happens to be brs and goljan.

Yes nuprin,You have a point!! Like for biochem. there is Lippincott, for Anatomy and Histo ,there are HY,for physio,BRS or Costanzo, for Micro./Immunology,Jawetz ..for pharma.,Katzung and for behavioral Sc.,Barbara Fadem ( BRS ) etc.,etc.Sure I am missing lots of books here ? All are Gold Standard Books.Still,I beleive Kaplan did a good job providing such a nice course. Bottomline---we have to choose one! Thanks

i *hated* HY Histo. maybe it's bc it's one of the first books i did. do you think i should go over it again? i'm hoping the supplement to first aid in histo will be enough (just knowing the cell types in diff parts of the body). you think brs behsci is good? i did hy. i'm wondering where i can get the info on the doctor/pt relationship qs.

Hello Which Goljan book are you using? I've searched on Amazon, but it comes up with four Goljan books on Path. Please could you give me the ISBN number? Appoximately how long will it take to get through the material? Thanks! Moc

Now ..WHAT SHOULD i DO ..ANY BODAY CAN HELP -IS it correct that for pathology i can use only goljan audios and that they are more than enough for pathlogy ?
