can someone let me if as an img.....if i have decent scores on usmle steps.....could i apply and hope to get into a good hospital or even a great one......i have heard it is no use trying........if so i wouldn't want to dream about that and look for only those hospitals that take img.....?? it is no point to have broken dreams? any one know???

Being an img is not a limitation for getting the best residency program.But it will make your process much harder.You can enter the best hospital it depends only of YOU.
You dreams will be broken only if you stop trying to realize them.

Good answer - look at the number of IMG's in residency throughout the USA - of course you stand a chance with decent scores.

bbb, what's the number of imgs in residency throughout the us? Where can I find this kind of statistics?

I believe that the answer to number/percentage of IMG's is on the NRMP web site or the ECFMG web site. I'll dig around and see if I can find anything on the numbers.

The program where I work has a good mix of IMG's, USIMG's (US citizens or Perm Residents that went back home for medical school - raised in the USA), and AMG's.
