197/ 80..thats the score I have got. As per the score report, I did worse in Behavioural science and Micro/Immunology. I need to compensate in step 2 perhaps. Thanx everybody for your regular feedbacks.

Thanx everybody for your support. It has given me a boost in my prep for step 2 and I hope I will do my best. I would suggest everybody to stress on behavioural science as it had been a key factor in bringing down my score. For ppl who aim for surgery or ER should aim for above 90 and take the test when you are fully prepared. Else, if you are getting 70% in Kaplan's, you can definitely pass like me and hopefully would score higher.

Hi doctorjha! Congrates your score! That's nice! if you didn't expect this try to make it up in your next test! But i think the truth the matter is passing! I'll be jumping in joy if i had that! Did you take NBME? I took part 1 yesterday and scored 370 and i am soo scared now.My test is in a month! What should I do now? Plaese give me some advice? Thanks!

I got 430 in NBME test but I took it 10 days before exam. I would advice you to point out your weaker subjects at this moment and just do them throughly atleast once. If you can revise Microbiology 2 times, that will help you a lot. Especially, I would suggest you to just inculcate these concepts by heart.... 1. Side effects of anti-cancer drugs 2. Fungi and viruses (though seem unimportant) 3. Everything from DNA to Protein synthesis 4. How to deal with smoking patients (read CMDT 2004 first chapter) 5. Brachial plexus injury and associated symptoms These are mostly in First Aid but still we commit mistakes. Dont worry about NBME. You still have time and u will certainly pass and score good.

Oooh thank you so much for your encouragement! yes i will review the things you have just mentioned! Actually the stuff you pointed here is my the weakest things by coinsedence somehow! Hey what's CMDT 2004? I don't know what is this stand for? Thank you very much Drjha! good luck for your next step!

doctrojha, Congratulations!!!! Good score!! Remember you still have two more exams left for Match day. If your choice is internal medicine, Well you are pretty much in it. Just remember that the interview is very importat. Someone who gets a 197 on the usmle 1 can still get into a Surgery program but it all depends on the interview. The interview is very important so prepare for it very well. Good Luck on Step 2!!

Thanx Enrique, You have encouraged me a lot and I would try my best to do good in interview and remaining tests. But, I would just like to ask if your information is valid for IMGs too? I am hoping for internal medicine and not for surgery but still I doubt my chances. I wish what you said is true. dear Elm, CMDT stands for Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment. I gotta know the importance of its first chapter for step 1 becuz there were quite many qs from "how to deal with smokers". I am studyin it for step 2 but I should have referred it for step 1 also. Though hardly matters!

dr. jha, do you think the CMDT would be useful for those weird "how to deal with pts" behavioral science questions? ELM, don't worry about your score if you have a whole month left!!! if i had taken it before i started studying a month ago, i'm sure i would have done worse. your grade jumps up once you know path and pharm really well and you're used to being tested on the same concepts over and over again. i'm finding that certain "buzzwords" or descriptions of such are starting to make instant connections in my mind, e.g. "compulsively chewing his lips" = Lesch-Nyhan or "a patient demands the best..." = narcisstic personality disorder.

hey, not the whole CMDT..I just asked to read the first chapter if you prefer. In the latest edition, they added smoking section. That might be of some help. Well, its just 2-3 qs but I perhaps did all of them wrong in my test and every q matters when u finally analyze the test. In fact, 10-20 qs can make a difference between 75 and 99.

Hey Doctorjha, Congratulations! Go for what you wanna do! People "label" a lot of things... But where there's a will there's a way! I guess what I want to say is that... just go fo it, no matter what you're gonna hear about scores and residency spots. Just do your best and you will get there! Congratulations again my friend! A. =D>
