will you explain me the EEG pattern during REAM and NREM sleep?

hi DOCARJUN
first wave is called(Awake-low voltage- random fast- beta waves): in beta wave your awake, alert, processing information,it's low voltage random fast b/c what u r getting depend on stimuli, that u r processing.

second is (alph wave):when u r begin to sleep but still awake but u are getting ready for sleep.these waves r more regular.8 to 12 cycle per sec.

third is stage 1: after some time in alpha state [re[aring to sleep,u fall a sleep i-e stage 1 sleep characterized by waves 3 to 7 cps and in this u have also theta waves that r more rounded waves.

after that u fall in stage 2 sleep. it is 12 to 14cps and here also inc cycles per sec. it is also signifies by two very distinctive constulation i-e sleep spindle and k complexs. sleep spindles have relatively high amplitude but they r tightly pressed and on the other hand k complexes are isolated long waves one up and one down.

then u fall to delta sleep. and it is indicated as full delta sleep, occur half to 2 cps.very slow cps. in book figure showing full delata slepp i-e stage 4 sleep. stage 3 slepp some where half way in b/w 2 and 4 slepp. in stage 3 u r getting delata waves but u have also other waves mixed in.

according to figure after that u go to stage 2 sleep and then 2 slepp and then REM sleep of your evening. REM sleep charcterised by low- voltage random fast wave. in REM your brain is working same as during u r awake.it is responding different stimuli that stmuli is internal not external. the difference b/w beta waves and REM sleep is that in REM we have SAW TOOTH WAVES and they r sharp waves. and after that again u r going to stage 2 sleep as the next cycle continues.

i hope i explain right. if some body find mistake let me know, i
will appreciate.
thanx.
