for diagnosis of H. pylori infection the most cost efective test is serology meassuring for Ig G; urease breath test can be used for follow up, b/c serology can remain positive for a couple of years after treatment. For Gold Standard: antral biopsy.

H.pylori is diagnosed based on the fact that it release urease, subsequently urease is detected by ph monitoring media of a gastric biopsy. urea breath test can be used to destiguish eradiction of infection after antibiotic therapy
