In kaplan actually its unclear, it just says GABA is effected, i tried searching on the web, and it seems as they are doing different studies with this and it is not clear yet, except that it decreases GABA's effect on dopaminergic neurons. Hopefully we dont have to know much about this, i think it is good enuf just knowing that marijuana/cannibis, effects GABA :o)

cannabis acts on cannabinoid receptors which r g protein coupled inhibitory receptors ,thus they decrese c AMP levels
CB1 in the brain and is responsible fr psychoactive effects and CB2 in the periphery....
reg GABA. cannabinoids increase GABA
GABA is inhibitory and cannabis causes slowness in motion
