An HIV serodiscordant couple (HIV infection recently was
diagnosed in the man, the woman is HIV-negative) want information
about the risk of HIV transmission. They are also interested
in having children. Each of the following statements
regarding HIV transmission is correct except:

a. The proper use of condoms greatly reduces the risk of HIV
transmission.
b. Traumatic intercourse increases the risk of HIV transmission.
c. Ulcerative genital infections increase the risk of HIV transmission.
d. The risk of HIV transmission from an HIV-infected mother
to her infant (vertical transmission) is on average nearly
65%.
e. Antiretroviral agents decrease the rate of vertical transmission
