what are the difference in treatment?

acute ------- the aim of treatment is to convert to normal sinus rhythm with drugs ( procainamide or amiodarone) or cardioversion

cronic........ add anticoagulant, (coumadin or cardioaspirin)

You are right. In crush the board, it says: For acute, try cardioversion first; for chronic, try anticoagulant first. GL.
