Is surreptitious ingestion of thyroxine considered to be T3 or T4.....
Would it cause an increase in T4 lab result?
I was under the impresion that thyroxine is already in its active form and would not be converted to T4 out of the thyroid. Your thoughts?

mani is right, T4=Thyroxin
however T4 although higher in conc. is less potent than T3 and usually in the periph. is converted to T3 which is a more ACTIVE form, by "5-deiodinase" enzyme.
remember some of the drugs for hyperthyroidism block this very enzyme (e.g. Plicamycin,TPU)
