Hi all test takers, Greetings . Is it possible to score in the 90's on steps 1 and 2 only by studying on one's own - no coaching , no course ? If yes what time table , what scedule and what books to follow ? Please be realistic to answer . I would appreciate an early reply . Wish you all the best. ssurg.

My boyfriend got a 99 in step 1 and 90 in step 2 withou attending to any courses. According to him the books are enough if you study hard. Good luck!!!!!

hello. i did self study only and got good step 1 and 2 scores. no courses, no study groups. What i think aided to my success are the following factors: 1. took step 1 near my national boards (Philippines). so basically i just reviewed the books i studied for the National Boards with the addition of First Aid. 2. i allotted 2-3 months of FULL TIME study. probably around 10 hours per day (with snacks and TV in between, plus Saturday night and whole day Sundays off.) i think many people feel that the longer they study the better. this is wrong in my opinion. you will tend to forget things you studied earlier if you prepare for the exam too long. 3 months is the ideal time for me. These books were the biggest help: 1. Read First Aid Step 1 on the last week before your Step 1. 2. Read Crush the Boards Step 2 on the last week before your Step 2. Hope this helps.!
