well, it would be better if you have completed all exams (including CS) before the interview season. Since we mail our credentials to ERAS by September, I think this is the best time. But I will be taking CS by October, which is still good. You just have to make sure that the hospitals you are applying to do not require you to be ecfmg certified prior to interview. dont worry though, I ve known people who were late (took the CSA in November) but still got matched. but then, if you could do earlier, the better. good luck!

hi mazen, dont worry if your doing research. My girlfriend from the Philippines is also into research and only has the night to study. And she still got good in step 1 (in the 90s). And I have known people who have done so. But if your doing part time study, you'll have to do longer exam prep (3 1/2 -5 months). and it also depends on your step 1 foundation. i did full time study, so i just prepared for 2 months and 1 week. i read the following books: 1. Swansons Family Practice Review 2. First Aid Step 2 3. Crush the Boards Step 2 4. Underground Clinical Vignettes 5. NMS Review for USMLE Step 2 6. Qbank. Since I had no money, I couldnt afford books for each subject, so I had to stick to one book which would cover all subjects. And this book is Swanson's Family Practice Review. But since you study subjects individually, Kaplan is good. For OB GYN I heard Blueprints was good. But most of all remember to read Crush the Boards about a week before your exam. This should be the last book you read, because you get a chance to integrate everything there. Ok gud luck! 3 to 4 hours of study should be enough for a night.
