Well, I don't know if her history would help in any way. But she was a drug addict and a prostitute for a while but gave it up years ago.
She's been feeling tired lately and had a single episode of seizure.

Anyway, the answer is SLE and I saw it in one of those ER shows smiling face

I know SLE can indirectly affect muscle and directly affect connective tissue and epithelium, but this is the first time I hear it causing seizures.
Also First AID, my only weak reference now says nothing about seizures.
If I dont get back in 24 hrs I do not agree.

Seizures occur in 15-20% of patients with SLE and may result from cerebral vasculitis (ischemic or hemorrhagic manifestations), cardiac embolism, opportunistic infection, drug intoxication, or associated metabolic derangements. A seizure focus may result from an acute insult or from the development of a seizure focus in an area of prior brain insult.

Mash, just to put this in perspective- its possible to have a seizure from a MVA (car accident) 6 months after the accident.
So my q to you or anyone is -What percent of people with sometimes insidious disease such as Diabetes or Hypertension have seizures if any?

I agree there r many other cns manifestations in sle like meningitis CN lesions strock and even psychotic symtoms which might be due to vasculitis and immune comlex deposition

guys,

I initially posted this question just for fun 'cause as I said, I saw it on TV. The pt's attending gave her the wrong diagnosis. She was discussing the case with another physician and as soon as she heard that the pt. had a false positive for VDLD ??? test, she immediately said SLE.

Today, Dr. Barone (the path professor for Kaplan) said the same thing. He said to be careful because pts with SLE have a false positive VDLD test.
