I talked with an Ortho surgeon here in Miami, he has his research group. He told me that with him used to work a Colombian Physician that right now is doing residence in ortho, I believe in Mayo. It's hard but not imposible!!

Hi Flores, I am also an IMG from Mexico, with an orthopaedic degree from Lomas Verdes Hospital in Mexico City. We have to be honest here. It is extremely difficult to get into an orthopaedic residency in the US even for Doctors graduated here. You have to be in the top scores and get lots or recomendation letters. What can work though is that, once you get your licence you can try to get an orthopaedic clinical fellowship (this is easier) After this, It might be easier to get an ortho residency. Please do not feel bad, there is nothing impossible. Just bear in mind it it not easy. regards.
