Urgent: IM residency matching for IMG

Hi everyone:
I need some advice urgently.
I'm a sixth (final) year medical student, and I really wanna go to a IM residency program in USA as a IMG (no green card). I scored both above 90 on steps 1 and 2. However, I did really badly on my preclinical courses (pass only). Do you think it is possible for me to be successfully matched to an IM residency program? or Don't be bothered to apply? Thanx!

Do people think that medical school grades or USMLE scores are more important for IMG's?

I do not think that they so important.it is more important to have good usmle scores.

You are in good shape. Fortunately for you, grades are important to your school and country. Each country (and within that perhaps each school) has different standards of excellence. USMLE is kind of considered as a standardized test. So, if you scored above 90, it is not a stretch to say it neatly hides your school performance. And, for many IM programs good scores matter.

There are many programs that sponsor an H1 or a J1 visa. If you search well, you will find them. Good luck. grin

And there is also one more thing why they do not pay attention for grades.I do not do not know from which country you are Davide but in a lot of countries with not so high life standart you have a corruption.So with no effort but lots of money you can have excelent grades there.
Do not worry you will get your residency.

hi everybody,
i need some guidance for residency appln. i cleared step 1 n 2 with scores above 90 now prep.. for csa plz help how to file appln now can i do it now or shld i wait till csa results r out. plz advice

Many of the transcripts from the international schools are graded so that it's nearly impossible for anyone who didn't attend that school to decipher them!

(I had one of my Chief Residents go through transcripts from his country and if it wasn't his school, he was lost - it made me feel better that it wasn't just me).

Your good scores will far outweigh a transcript that we can't understand.
