There is a case in kaplan IM saying a achalasia pt doesn't have weight loss for one year in the chapter of achalasia; then other questions present weight loss, so I just confused. Thanks.

The frequent delay in diagnosis is due to the mild and vague symptoms in the early stages of the disease that often do not cause the patient to seek medical attention. These symptoms include mild chest discomfort, indigestion, or slight difficulty with swallowing. As the disease progresses, more prominent chest pain, difficulty eating, regurgitation of food, weight loss, and breathing problems appear, which typically lead to testing and diagnosis.

GERD has LES incompetent; Achalsia has decreased or absence peristalsis but increased LES tone; PSS, has decreased peristalsis like Achalasia but also decreased LES tone like GERD. Thanks for the good question. Hope i have got you.
