but in kaplan notes its (Na+K)- (HCO3+Cl)

In brs physi, the formula is Na - (Hco3 + Cl), K is mainly intracelluar. Is there any explanantion in kaplan? Thanks.

hi it is Na -(HCO3+Cl) becos pottasium extracellular is normally less than 5 meq..it is ignored... qs relavant to increased anion gap will definitely show a wide anion gap not with in that 5 meq difference.. so eitherway u calculate...no problem...
