How would you define obesity? What are the 3 MCC of secondary obesity and so need to do some check?

and after rule out this reason, then consider diet and drug treatment. 1. How is the “Very-low-calorie diet”? (calorie, protein) 2. What is the name of the drug for obesity, its MOA, its SE?

excess adipose tissue resulting in body mass index >30. Hypothyroidism and cushing's syndrome are most common causes of secondary obesity. serum TSH determination and dexamethasone suppression testing are reqd to be checked.

very low calorie diet is <=800 kcal/d. medications are classified as catecholaminergic or serotenergic. catecholaminergic: amphetamines, phenteramine, diethylpropion and mazindol. Newer drugs: Sibutramine blocks uptake of both serotonin and NE in the CNS. Orlistat reduces fat absorption in GIT.
