Guys! I also think and answer the same to all of you but the question is easy but tricky my impression is there is demyelination of the nerve cells because of the gradual development of the signs and symptoms. But if you read the question carefully it is simple the answer is Vit E because vitamin E is antioxidant. Vitamin E supports the normal peripheral nerve function by preventing damage to schwann cells and dorsal root ganglia. Damage to schawann cells will lead to demyelination which plays a role in ataxia and areflexia. Damage to dorsal root ganglia would impair sensory transmission. ( rapid review USMLE 1 by E. Goljan.)
