Can I skip reading chromosomal abnormalities? I have Kaplan review books (2 volumes) and this is a detailed topic in this book. I am studying from Kaplans Intense Prep Lecture notes ( whenever I dont understand any topic I open review books). In intense prep notes there is no topic for chromosomal abnormalities. Can anyone suggest me about skipping chromosomal abnormalities (like deletion, insertion, translocation, non disjunction etc) and another chapter of Linkage from reivew book, and just read whatever in intense prep and FA???? Please advice me! Thanks.

No way, man! That's so important, it's not even funny. W/deletions, insertions etc. etc., they can test so many concepts and interwine them (biochem/path/physio etc). X-some abnormalities.....if u don't have time, look them up in First Aid. There is a section in Path. But as u study path, they will come up (ie. burkitt's, AML, and other lymphomas.....or Cri du chat etc. etc) As far as deletions etc, they are covered by Kaplan in biochem section. Make sure to know what diseases have deletions (ie. alpha thalassemia) vs. missense (b thal etc). By the way, I really suggest that the more u know, the better it is. It's not good to keep switching books. Stay with one set of books and know them COLD. This goes for me, too All da best!

Thanks bela. I read it from Kaplan's review book and I realized that it is an important topic. I am studying from intense prep notes and this topic is not covered in that book. Now I am worried about other topics too!
