When type III collagen is laid down in a wound, what enzyme and what cofactor are responsible for converting it to type I collagen (increased tensile strength)?

If copper is lacking, what's the disease? How does it present? What types of collagen does it usually affect? What organelle/compartment does this step take place in?

Cu is reqd fr assembly of fibrils as a cofactor fr lysyl oxidase this takes place in EC compt sorry, dont remember the ds type III collagen synthesis is defective

Yes mash, it takes part in Extracellular environment. Usually lack of Cu is b/c of a XR deficiency in ATP dependent Cu transporter  Cu is released in feces  Deficiency of Cu  Inhibition of lysyl oxidase step  Menke's Disease Pt would present with hypopigmentation (of hair, too); aneurysm secondary to arterial tortuosity etc. etc. What collagen is depleted? I think it's Coll 3 since vessels are involved but I am not sure What about Ehlers Danlos? Where does it block collagen synthesis?

bcoz tyrosinase (melanin synthesis)also requires Cu as cofactor so, cu def leads to steel grey colored hair

bela , tyrosinase converts tyrosine to DOPA  melanin. cu is a cofactor fr tyrosinase. in cu def , melanin synthesis is defective. So, hair is depigmented... this is wat i meant by steel grey color of hair
