pt should be cyanotic from the beginning as there is right to left shunt from the beginning

sorry my booboo there not cardioprotective but rather preserve o2 conc in the blood. hmmm so what is cardioprotective.....would it be the degree of stenosis of the pul valve since that would directly influence the degree of cyanosis? mani is right though...cyanosis should be right from the beginning...

Mani, #1 NOT all patient with Tetralogy present with cyanotic, therefore sometimes the congenital is referred to as Acyanotic Tetralogy. Therefore, the factor that determines the degree of cyanotic is Pulmonary stenosis. Since less blood is dump into the pulmonary artery --> less blood into left ventricle---> cyanotic or the other around more blood---> NO cyanotic As for question #2 PDA and ASD

ASD and PDA are necessary for long-term existence, or "cardioprotective", in this case. The degree of stenosis is the most important factor for predicting cyanosis. And dont forget our friend Eisenmenger

i think basically its rt vent hypertrophy and rt vent pressure relative to left vent pressute that determines the direction of shunt and pulm stenosis is the factor that determines the extent of hypertryphy
