I mean for all these choices, which of them more in acute, or chronic renal failure or you may find them in both. Sorry if it is not clear.

and is not A the right ans?

Azotemia is seen in acute renal failure.
Oliguria is also seen in acute renal failure. It is unusual in chronic renal failure.
Anemia is rare in the initial period of ARF.
Small kidneys are most consistent with CRF, whereas Normal to large sizes can be seen with both.

Good. Thanks.

why is azotemia only in arf? i thought azotemia is a criteria for dialysis & dialysis is mostly in crfs... also why is oliguria more likely in arf than crf? thanks ian

Good question.

I think you are right for the first doubt becaue azotemia actually occurs in both actue and chronic renal failure; after months to years progressive azotemia, uremia occurs as end-stage sign.

However, in the beginning even a long time before end-stage disease in chronic failure, GFR can be normal; and in the stage 1, can even have higher GFR; oliguria only happen at far-advanced stage.

Comments welcomed.
