aftre unilat nephrectomy, cardiac out put is decreased. this is due to increased after load. is there some other factor involved in this phenomenon?

possibly increased TPR, usually when cardiac output goes down, to compensate, the TPR would go up.

rida, as i stated in my question, cardiac output decreases due to increaseed TPR (which i took as increased after load). TPR would increase as we a removal a cicuit from a parallel circuit system which would increase the overall resistance. Increased resistance ----> increased systemic BP -------> decreased cardiac out put. Thats wt i meant. I wanna know is there any other factor contributing to decreased CO.

oh sorry about that mani. It seems to me that you have written out exactly why CO woul dbe decreased, because i always think of it in terms of the equation MAP = CO x TPR, so i dont know if there is anything else working on decreasing CO. Will look it up.
