Hi, Dean's letter for what purpose???If you're applying for the exam and you've not gotten the medical school diploma yet then you need it.....is for that purpose you need it???If it is then its just a letter(no specific format)stating that you are/were a student of that university(can add some personal detail like student numberetc..)and you have completed whatever year......expected to get medical school diploma on _____.and so you're eligible to sit for the USMLE and your university has no objection in you sitting for the exam etc.... You can make the format of the letter anyway you like it that suits your convenience.....I would suggest you to write out the draft of the letter and then to go to the office and tell the clerk you want that letter in specific and to get it signed by the dean(also don't forget the offcial seal of the university. However if you are already a graduate and have your diploma in haND you dont really need a dean's letter than for the purpose mentioned above. I didn't understand your first question....its good you got your medical school transript though.

The Dean's Letter is a specific document that medical schools in the U.S. write for their students. It contains important information that residency programs use to make their decisions. Dean's Letters are not always required for IMG's but they are always a good idea. If your school does not write them for you, you can write a draft and ask them to sign and seal it. Here is the link to the official instructions for Dean's Letters. http://www.aamc.org/students/eras/support/mspeguide.pdf There is a template to fill out beginning on page 7.
