i did my exam some days ago,it was a strange exam.not much like i expectedbut i think i just expected all my qs to be about what i know,of course thats not realistic,i realize. i started reading about december, all the regular books aprt from kaplan, then started web prep in march, read some bits of my kaplan books, couldnt finish them and quite frankly didnt really want to cos i wanted my exam over in may and i knew i couldnt make it,i'm not such a fast reader like some on this forum who finish texts in 3 days, ive never done that before and i dont think i ever will. i studied alone for the most part but did practice qs with a friend about 2 weeks to exam and that helped cos i got some of the discussed topics in my exam. i did q bank as well.didnt do nbme, and didnt do goljan.thats one thing i wish was different about my prep cos i hear he's got the number for the exam. few days before the exam i read my first aid though didnt finish it like i would hav liked cos i ran out of time.think u should actually plan to devote at least 2 weeks or so to first aid.i read my jottings form my web prep lectures but unfortunately'i dont think it made much of a difference because like i said i got a very wierd version of the exam. it didnt havall the regular stuff, all the so called high yield stuff, check out all the topics i DIDNT get questions on; no pressure volume loops no physiologic changes in exercise no myocard infarction no vlvular heart dx graphs no pulm fxn curves no crdiac fxn curves no calc of sens or specificity no ashkenazi jews questions no lymphoma leukemia qs no chromosome locations no glomerulonephritides questions no HLA subtypes ass wit dxes need i go on!i could be here for days.there were so many things i was expecting to see that i dint see.so at the end of the day it just boiled down to what i knew for myself as a doctor wit a brain, and some stuff from my studying. i had mainly pharmac and path qs and i guess physio, about 5 micro qs,about 15 b science,a couple of anat CTs,i embryology,no histology, about 10 biochemistry qs. the lesson i learnt??things on ur path to success dont always happen EXACTLY the way u want them to,basically i think that was put in place by God so that when ur success comes,ur joy is heightened and u recognise that He had a hand in it all along. there is no stereotype to the exam.there are so many diff versions,do ur work, make sur u know these stuff even if they dont come out cos u'll beat urself up if they do and u dont know it.basically u just have to calm down be relaxed ,take each question as it comes ,make the most of it within ur time limits and pray for the best,it is God that rewards ur hard work at the end of the day so u just got to trust him after doing ur own part and thats what im doing! also did i mention that i didnt get any questions from q bank?got just one from the usmle cd. i also found out that timing was an issue for me during the exam,a big suprise,a big blow and somewhat destabilizing but i quickly recovered and just made the most fo what i had, durin practice i usually had like 15 mins to spare after each block and i had great plans for this spare time during my exam but alas it was not to be. i just felt numb thruout the exam, basically didnt feel any pain or sadness even when i remember some silly mistakes,i beliv its a good sign. it actually wasnt difficult thinking about it,i think the exam is over hyped really and i am very hopeful, positive even for a really good score but i must say it was a strange experience. wish u all the best!!

thank u all guys for ur good wishes.dont get me wrong pls though,i'm not sayin i most likely failed,i'm only saying that i didnt get a lot of the emphasised 'high yield stuff' according to kaplan web prep except for endocrine physio,my exam had mainly geniturinary system and GIT in physio, path and even pharmac. i guess i'm just trying to say that u cant really 100percent predict ur questions except if u ve had access to all the nbme question bank or something!!and reviewing what others got asked may help u build confidence which impt, but u may not see these things on ur exam. but u cant really tell what u'll get so we hav no choice but to read everything we can.
