Glucocorticoid and Minerocorticoid are belong to a big family; glucocorticoid also has some sodium and water retaine ability. Becaue of this, hydrocortisone has side effect of edema. This is what i know. Correct me if not so. Thanks.

All steroids from the adrenal will have some semblance of H2O retention...estrogen also right?

If steroid treatment is necessary, what's the best treatment for this side effect? Loop or thiazide diuretic?

Mineralocorticoid excess - signs include arterial hypertension and dependent edema. The mineralocorticoid effect on the distal nephron is sodium retention at the expense of potassium and hydrogen excretion. Excess mineralocorticoid produces an expanded vascular volume in association with hypokaliemia and metabolic alkalosis. Glucocorticoid excess - iatrogenic Cushing syndrome
