hi tasneem,

I am taking exam on 30th july! I would like to be in touch with you. I am about to complete the first reading.....( I know it is a bad performance) but I am married, and a graduated of 97. So it was difficult for me to study after a long time, to come in flow, and to seriously study.
How is your preparation till now?

Hi Krampus and tasneem,
We are in a same boat! I am happy to know that you both are taking exam in July, and are going thru the first read. Tell me what books you are using and how many pages do you both study in a day. How about MCQ's, are you solving them daily?
I am studying Pharma from Kaplans Intense prep lecture notes, these days, and doing mcqs from q bank cd, and usmleasy.
I am getting bad scores in mcq's, I hope it would get better after the first read.
Stay in touch!
sar.

I am not sure about the NBME Qs. But I think these are not the question peoples are talking about. You have to buy NBME questions. The retired questions are free i think? But good for practice. I haven't done it yet.

I am studying from kaplan, doing 30-40 questions daily ...probably is n't to much, but i want ot finish first with reviewing=learning.
do you think we should wait until we all finish reviewing the material for the first time, and then start to work together, or should we start repeating together from now?

Hi everybody
I am also trying hard to study and taking test end of July
I have very bad feeling
still did not finish first time pharma left beh science
I try hard but its difficult
my scores on Q bank are bad
I use only kaplan notes
I took NMbe
scored 380,420 its 1sd below
go to www.NMBE.com then assessment service
its expensive 45 every 400 q and no A
but they seem very similar to the real test bcz I failed once

I think we should first review all the material. I dont feel confident at this stage. I need to study a lot!
I also did q book question after completing a section, and i did not get good score.
I will try NBME, but how can I get answers, and can any one suggest when should I take NBME questions? They are offering a sample test, free. How is that?

  #12

i think sar is correct, after we review all the materials,we can start discussing, and i just read in teh forum soemwhere that its best to take the NBME questions in the last month of the exams, all the best for studying.

Anybody....please suggest me...
Can I skip reading chromosomal abnormalities? I have Kaplan review books (2 volumes) and this is a detailed topic in this book. I am studying from Kaplans Intense Prep Lecture notes ( whenever I dont understand any topic I open review books). In intense prep notes there is no topic for chromosomal abnormalities.
Can anyone suggest me about skipping chromosomal abnormalities (like deletion, insertion, translocation, non disjunction etc) and another chapter of Linkage from reivew book, and just read whatever in intense prep and FA????

Please advice me!

Thanks.

Hi Sia and Robal
Glad to know that you both are also taking exam in july.
I am still doing my first reading. I am depressed as I didnt study since friday due to long weekend! I am worried, if i would pass this exam or not?
As my mcq scores these days is 50%....and it should be increased.
I planned to take Kaplan Q bank from june 20th to 20th july. I dont know how will I memorize things.

Do you people study FA these days (I mean with first reading of subject)?

I hope it would be good to be in touch with you all, because everyone needs some encouragement some times in the phase of preparation!
Best of luck!

how is it going?i know b'cos of teh long weekend, everyone must have taken it cool,so dont worry sar, even i havent studied for the past 3 days,im doing pharm now, after i finish with pharm,im thinking of startting to revise all subjects quickly and then start to do questions from q bank, after i finish a subject,i do the FA too, dont worry ab't the scores u get here, when we see the answers to teh questions,we wont make teh same mistakes in the exam, right?

my exam is on July 31st too, robal, where r u taking the test?

lets all give confidence to each other tahts what we need the most.

tasneem.

hi ELM,how r u doing?first of all, quit being nervous, think that in NBME ur allowed to make mistakes, only in the real exam,we have to do well,u can go through the wrong answers and try to concentrate more on those topics,im doing my 2nd reading of the subjects, have started with anatomy, planning to take Q bank and NBME after i finish revision, all the best for everyone.
