Monoaminergic antagonist, binds to serotonin, dopaminergic, muscarinic, histaminic and adrenergic alpha 1 receptors. Also binds weakly to GABA, BZD and beta adrenergic receptors. But the exact mech of action in schizophrenia and bioplar disorders is not known.
Clincal Use: Schizophrenia and bipolar disorders
SE: asthenia, dry mouth, nausea, somnolence, tremor, wt gain

Also among the other antipsychotics, Olanzapine is considered helpful in alleviating the negative symptoms with having less extrapyramidal Side Effects.
