HI,
JUST TAKE UP YELLOW PAGES SEARCH FOR PUBLIC NOTARIES, OR IF U CANT FIND PUBLIC NOTARIES JUST NOTE DOWN SOME SOLICITORS OFFICE PHONE NUMBERS.
RING THEM THEY WILL TELL U THE ADDRESS OF PUBLIC NOTARIES ( NOTE THAT ALL SOLICITORS R NOT PUBLIC NOTARIES).
JUST TAKE UR PASSPORT AND ALL RELEVENT DOCUMENTS AND HE/SHE WILL ATTEST IT FOR U FOR AN EXHORBITANT FEES OF 50-75 POUNDS STERLINS, ALL THE BEST ( FIX UP THEFEES B4 U MEET THEM OTHERWISE THEY WILL LOOT U I HAVE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE ALREADY)
TAKE CARE

check yellow pages in your area call some solicitors blindly, they might be notery public or if not ask them to tell u about who is doing notery public work, and call them up . that is how i did it

just wanted to say i got my csa form attested for free today at greenwich magistrate court in blackheath so when u want to do it for csa u can go there.they were actually to have charged me 8 pounds but guess someone there liked my face so i did it free.if u are working it may be slightly more than 8 pounds but not sure.whatever i,m sure its a lot better than 60 pounds solicitors would charge.

Hi Hiwa and friends!

I live in London, but would like to join your study group if possible. I've just finished my third year of med school, and plan to take Step 1 around March 2005

Thanks

Hi moctopod
It is an ideal time for u to take step 1 as u r still fresh, try to read some clinican suff as well, kaplan clinical vignette would be quite useful for u

actually we havnt arranged any study group yet, I am in manchester so the only way is online group which u can join any room on this forum.

Thanks Hiwa

When are you planning on taking Step 1, BTW? Have you started revision? I just began this week, and am still collating study materials. I'll be using Kaplan 2001 notes (without videos), First Aid, USMLE Buzzwords, HY Neuroanatomy, Lippincott's Biochem and Goljan lectures and audio. How are you preparing?

All the best

to hiwa.i have only done step 1.i know i passed thru oasis but i havent gotten my score report yet cos i used a u.k address..but i quickly applied for cs because spaces are fast disappearing and i'm hoping to match next year.

To bims ,

that is a good plan and also u can apply from now for step 2 because some time especially for IMG might take along time for the things to be processed, make sure u have every thing ready by feb/05

to moctopod
every body has different plan for preparation because of time u have other commitments, and ur stage at medical school, but the most important is ur style of study,
I think the materials u cose r good, but the trick of this exam is the number of the questions u have done with absorbing the concept of each q, not just memorizing them, because u never get exactly the same q, but u get the same concept ot theme in differnt fram,
If I were u I would start with kaplan notes focusing mainly on underestanding the basics, mechanisms and idea behind abnormal procedures, however there r facts needs to be memorized which is not as important as concepts, read them u can consolidate them by doing questions later on , dont bother too much by memorizing the facts, because u have almost 10 month what ever u do u forget what u read today by the time of the exam. after doing each subject do first aid, and step by step first aid, and then do around 200 questions on that particular subject, make sure the question book that u do is to give an idea about ur progress rather than detailed explanation like a proper review book.

Then start doing questions, the trick of the exam, as many q as u can from multiple sources that reflect the actual exam, with 2 main aims

To consolidate the principles u learned in ur review.

To build more informations arround what u studied.

The recomended books for questions

BSS (I highly recommend it)
Kaplan
Rapid review for usmle by Goljan(1400 Q)
NMS
u have time to through all of them

I am planning bet. aug-oct , but I havnt got the answer yet

good luck

And last 2 weeks before ur exam do all the NBME questions
