a 170 lb pt is on a ventolator having tidal vol (Vt) 700 ml and resp rate (RR) 16. which of the following alterations would increase his PaCO2 frrom 25 to 50 mm Hg:
1. add 150 ml of deead space
2 decrease RR to 12
3. decrease Vt to 500
4. deecrease vt to 600 and RR to 14

to double the PaCO2, half the Va
Va = (Vt-Vd)*res rate
= (700-150)*16
=8800
if we half Va , it is equal to 4400
none of the choices give Va= 4400
wats the ans?
and plz explain..
