Stimulates production of cAMP through nonadrenergic pathways. Result is enhanced myocardial contractility, heart rate, and AV conduction.

Thanks... can you site the source please? Because I'm confused.... I read that glucagon is coupled to Gs..increased cAMP...increased PKA, but it has negative chronotopic effect on the heart because this particular isoform of PKA is not associated with AKAP and Ca channels.

Thank you, that was a wonderful article. However, I still don't get why it would be specifically used (ok, now I see, the other close choice is epinep....I previously thought it is nor-ep... then I will be really confused). Anyway, I feel like glucagon effect is more like antagonising the hypoglycemic effect of beta-blockers(mainly non-selectives)?

Sorry; I take back the negative chronotopic concept; I read the article in circulation research 2001; but I checked Goodman & G and it does mention positive chronotopic and ionotropic effects of Glucagon..it's much safer to go with G&G I suppose.
