Does anyone have a mnemonic about Type I and II error, Alpha, Beta, null hypothesis.
I am very confuse but so far I came up with this:
-null hypothesis=0, no difference between the two groups
-alfa-->probability of making a type I error
-beta-->probability of making a type II error
-type I error: false positive, rejecting the null hypothesis when you should not
-type II error:false negative , accepting the null hypothesis when you should not.

type 1 error is done to promote bussines

type 2 to demote bussiness

just a little point here,we never accept the null hypothesis we either reject it or fail to reject it.

Statisticians will never accept the null hypothesis, we will fail to reject. In other words, we'll say that it isn't, or that we don't have enough evidence to say that it isn't, but we'll never say that it is, because someone else might come along with another sample which shows that it isn't and we don't want to be wrong.
