wrote: "suppresion " is defined as "voluntarily" withholding of an idea or feeling from conscious awareness? if it's "voluntarily" then it must not be "unconsiously". Doesn't this conflict with the definition of defense mechanism??? yah how is that possible??

the idea is that we are not aware that we are using defence mechanism to help us cope with reality. Now suppression is just as the name implies, we are voluntarily and temporarily suppressing this overwhelming event that we are faced with so that we can remain sane; sort of giving yourself a mental break, however we are not aware why we are using this mechanism, we just did it because it seems like the right thing to do at the moment. So in essence I think all defensive behavious are done voluntarily but we are not aware of why we sometimes we behave in such irrational manner Then you go back to books and you will find many good examples of suppression.
