hello everyone, I just received my step 2 results 230/93. I am not too sure if that is a good score or just average. I am from a third world country and thus is not all too familiar with the norm/ standards among other IMGs. I am worried and concerned as I thought I did very badly on the day itself. Please also offer any advise or views on my chances of getting into good surgical residency programme.

Nothing to do with your 3rd world, get some confidence. otherwise you will not get a surgical residency (even a family medicine or internal medicine residency)

hello, I studied part time while working in the hospital, putting in about 2 to 3 hrs max a day. I studied for about 3 to 4 months from the day I read the first page till date of exam. My score isn't great so take my opinion lightly, just some of my views below.... Useful materials i used. Kaplan USMLE Step 2 materials (5 volumes) plus their Q book - read form cover to cover and did their Q book Kaplan Videos lectures( high yield for time in between too much reading) Kaplan Qbank on CD Crush the boards(slightly better) and 1st Aid for the last few days Not so useful stuff: appleton and lange series NMS series Pre-test series Also used CMDT for refernce along with my old books from med school and MRCS I think Kaplan 5 volumes and the Q bank on CD are the single most useful items for me. I feel that the questions in Kaplan Q bank, the ones of CD, arranged in blocks with timing are the most useful as they are the most similar to the actual test. I thought i did very badly when i got out and hoped to fail so that i can work/study harder next time . So i guess don't take my advice too seriously as it may be a fluke result. cheers and good luck.

Your score is very good. Yes it is not 99, but please don't insult people on here as many have trouble passing on this board.
