Kaplan Qbank USMLE

I TOOK STEP 2 TODAY, AND IT SEEMED TOO DIFFICULT... I WAS DOING WELL ON THE PRACTICE EXAMS (Q-BANK, KAPLAN Q-BOOK, PRETESTs, ETC), BUT THE REAL EXAM WAS HARDER!
WELL, I DON'T KNOW, MAYBE I WILL PASS, MAY BE NOT, BUT I WONDER WHETHER IT IS BETTER TO PASS WITH A MINIMUM SCORE THAN NOT PASSING, AND TAKE IT AGAIN WITH A BETTER PREPARATION.
DO THE P.D.'s PREFER AN APPLICANT WHO PASSED IT ON A 2ND CHANCE, WITH A GOOD SCORE, OR ONE WHO PASSED IT WITH A LOW ONE????
I FEEL VERY DEPRESSED NOW..... I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK, I'VE STUDIED HARD, AND I DID VERY WELL LAST YEAR ON STEP 1 (I HAD A 92), BUT I DON'T KNOW WHY IT WAS SO HARD NOW...
PLEASE !!!! I NEED GOOD ADVICE FOR SOME FRIENDLY SOULS HERE!

just relax rtcs, most of them who scored in top 90s felt (on the day of the exam ) that they failed! Instead of living in imaginations and letting them create unnecessary anxiety, just move on with other things and wait till scores are reported. After that you can decide how things should go. No need to speculate things now. The ball is in the courts of the USMLE folks, not yours, so why swing your bat? :icon_salut: Let them hit it back to your court, and then see how you want to play it.
All the best,
relax and do something you enjoy now,
Meg

How do you feel after step 1 exam? did you feel you could pass or the same as that after step 2?

Thank you for your words... you're really helful in this moment of hopelessness :?
After step 1 it was different, i took it on August 2003, and i feel it was very very similar than the Q-bank, so I expected to have a score similar than those on the practice exams I did.
But now, it was really difficult, even harder than the Pre-Test (McGraw-Hill), I don't know why... When i practice on the USMLE CD, i was doing scores nearly 90%, so I was feeling great, but after the exam... sad
Well, now i'll try not to think about it... until they send the score.
bye,

This is a common feeling. I don't have my score. In fact look at my post from May 1st!!! This feeling of nervousness will reduce with periodic surges

hey, relax
chances r if u did well on step 1 , u 'll do well on this one too.
why did u find this exam hard?

  #7

thank u, again.
Why i found it hard??
1- the vignettes were very long, that made time shorter.
2- to much pathophysiology, for a moment i thought i was doing a basic science's test, they don't ask about diagnosis, they ask about "what is the mechanism...."
3- when i went on reading the options, for many of the q's, it seem there were many posible answers, and on the other hand, for many it seemed that no answer fit
3- many q's were a little ambigous, and i was surprised, because this kind of exams have always been very clear.

bye
rtcs
