i also post this message on USMLE.NET AS WELL. IN FACILIATED DIFFION IN PHYSILOGY KAPLAN THEY TELL US THAT NET MOVMENT IS ALWAYS DOWN THE CONCENTRATION GRADIENT(FIRST OF ALL WHAT IS DOWN CONCENTRATION)AND SECOND THEY TELL US IT IS JUST LIKE SIMPLE DIFFUSIN MEANS NO CARRIER FOR FACILIATED DIFFUSION BUT IN THE KAPLAN PHARMACOLOGY THEY TELL US THERE IS CARRIER FOR FACILIATED DIFFUSION.CAN ANY BODY EXPLAIN ME WHAT IS ALL THIS.AND ALSO IN KAPLAN PHARMA THEY TELL US FACILIATED DIFFUSION IS SATURABLE. PLS TELL ME HOW IS THAT?

down the concentration gradient means frm higher to lower concentration. Diffusion is always downstream & active transport, which requires energy is always upstream i.e frm lower to higher concn. diffusion may be simple or facilitated simple diffusion is downstream i.e frm higher to lower concn does not require carrier not saturable i.e a subs can diffuse as long as their is adifference in the concns b/w 2 sides facilitated diffusion is downstream requires carrier any transport dat requires carrier is saturable bcoz transport can occur as long as carrier is there. so, as the carrier gets saturated further transport can not occur)

facilitated(like diffussion) should be from high to low concentration no energy required. 1-Imagin a ball rolling down from a hill down ward, on the way it might hit rockes that slow down its speed. 2-On the other hand if u dig a gutter straight from the uphill towards the buttom of the hill without having any rockes on the way, and the ball rolling down through the gutter it is still downward flow but of course faster and no energy required( so u facilitated the speed of the ball by digging the gutter. In both examples no energy required because all u need to do is to release the ball Imagin that the diameter of the gutter is the same as the balls so u cannt push two balls through at the same time , so u can say that the carrier o the gutter saturated for that particular time. Active Transport. u have to go down the hill and pick the balls and burn few ATPs and walk back up the hill

Nice-You were great at extrapolating, internalizing, and sharing an important concept with us. Can you or anyone give a few examples of each? simple diffusion facilitated diffusion carrier mediate transport active transport etc. Thx for facilitating this matter
