can you please pick yourself up off the ground and stop seeking sympathy on here friend!! you will have hope if you exude it, so regain that confidence that you will match!! if you feel your application is weak, then take step 3 if you havn't just yet, and aim for a great score!! it's impressive to pd's especially if we aren't seeking visas and have step 3 done, it's an advantage that you should partake in!!! if you think you shouldn't have been a doctor, that's what you'll portray to the pd's in your apathetic attitude, so please stop it!! you aren't doomed, please stop this attitude, it's damaging not only to yourself but you won't get anywhere with this attitude dear, you have to be more positive, there's others that can't even pass the exam, so you are at least one step better than that!! instead of taking 3 years, ti could have taken you 23 years, so please, please be more positive!! if you applied early on sept 1 liek everyone makes you feel you must, and you havn't heard back yet from the majority of programs because most places won't actively look at your applications until after nov 1, when the dean's letter comes out, so please be patient, find something else to pre-occupy your time, and regain that courage to match so it will be ok! if for some reason you dont, then you have to find something to make your application stronger for the following year, some people dont ever get this opportunity so please give yourself more credit buddy and keep the push going just a little bit more before you quit, because honestly you didnt quit thus far and you have come so far already... cheer up, we're all in this together!!

listen ochdoc............ there is still a lot of time...................all it takes is ONE INTERVIEW !!!!!!!!! realise this...........competition is REALLY tuff for everyone.........that means a lot of ppl will grab prematch offers as soon as we get the chance................that means a LOT of ppl who havent gotten any calls WILL DEFINITELY GET CALLS..........especially if you dont have any visa issues............... good lors / no visa issues = a real good chance at gettin into a residency if you ask me..................its all a game of patience.............do NOT stop tryin now.................call up ppl.........find contacts..............look for ppl who can help and get on their case till they get tired of you and get you the calls.............come on the game has just started..............all the hours u put into studyin for the steps............goin through the ordeal of givin the exams..............EVERYTHING GOES DOWN THE DRAIN if you stop tryin now............. just give it your best shot..............instead of spendin time worryin etc............USE that time findin ways to get the calls and preparing for the calls coz as i said..........it ONLY TAKES THAT ONE MAGIC CALL !!!!!!!! g'luk

Hi, ochdoc, I understand how u feel but giving up is not going to help you at at this pioint. Since you have USCE and excellent LORs how about contacting the people who gave your letters? They may be able to put in a good word for you and fetch a couple of IVs. If u are a younger grad, there is always hope for the next year with better USCE (may be externship) and step 3. Best of luck.

im using premier 's system, with the mp3s, cheaper than kaplan, and was told to just keep doing it over and over and over, they suggest reading them 4-5 times, along with uworld bank, if time will do kaplan qbank, so get them and start today girl you'll be good to go!!

www (dot) premierreview (dot) com, i found it better than step 3 for kaplan as that was all over the place, i have ck notes for reference, but i like that it's all in one note set, so i dont have to use multiple books to study, best of luck!

ochdoc wrote: hi frnds i m totally depressed now no visa needed low scores/1 attempt in step 1/ us clinical rotations and excellent lors/ lost hopes all rejections no calls yet and having no hopes for calls also just thinking of step 3 n studying now i think i shouldnt have become a doctor i mean i wasted literally 3 yrs for these steps ok i couldnt score tht greaat but i cant change my scores i m all doomed i think rachna rachna.pant@rocketmail.com Do you live close by near a place which has a health-care university?? You definetly are in a better position than any other grads needing VISA. Look for a post-doc research fellowship or a research assistant job (most of them are paid at par with resident's salary!!!, and its easier for you to secure one since yopu donot need VISA) under a research/academician at a place which has residency program, work for 1-2 years get some research papers under your belt, get your guides reco letter, make few friends whilst in the program, keep in touch with PD of that program, do couple of months observership, there you go, you will easily be accepted into a residency despite your scores or any other drawbacks, (provided it is not the most competetive residency of that place). There are always ways out, there are always answers, look for them you will find'em. Goodluck
