Respiratory alkalosis due to hyperventilation.

most primary disturbance would be metabolic acidosis due to hypoxia. This will be corrected by hyperventilation leading to metabolic alkalosis. As a compensation kidney will excrete bicarbonate thus returning pH towards normal.

Mani are you referring to high altitude as in primary disturbance metabolic acidosis???

no its just theoretical. The sequence will be as i have listed but the obeserved finding will be metabolic alkalosis, ,as resp compensation is very rapid. So although 1st disturbance will be metabolic acidosis but obeserved will be metabolic alkalosis.

i think primary disturbance wud be respiratory alkalosis (due to hyperventilation) mech of hyperventilation ------- low systemic arterial PO2 will stimulate peripheral chemoreceptors.

Hmm--how would hypoxia result in metabolic acidosis? Oxygen per se exerts no acid-base effect. I too believe that the primary disturbance would be due to hyperventilation (which decreases the PCO2 and results in respiratory alkalosis).
