hi guys now that i have cleared my cs i would like to offer some tips to fellow colleagues on what to do and what not to. I have studied forums extensively and this advice is from my knowledge.

3 components are scored

Ice cis and sep

ice: This is the part which we all tend to concentrate on. what we need to know is what to ask and when. Please make a pneumonic of pamhuggs foss on the blank paper you are given. Dont be shy to look at the paper in front of the patient. Put four important points on each paper before you enter.
1. name of pt
2. history plus pamhuggs foss
3. summary
4. counsell--smoking/alcohol/drug/sexual/diabetes/htn

you have 15 mins per case so when the bell starts dont rush to enter in. write these points down. may take you 20 seconds but will get you 10 points correct in ice and cis part. As you talk to the pt you can strike which of the above 4 you have asked. This simplifies your ice part and covers a bit of the cis..Most of the people do forget the above 4 points.write the above down and you will sail through the main part.

cis :

practice makes you perfect. make an effort to do the following things right

1. Introduce yourself to patient name
2. take permission to ask history
3. say sorry as soon as the chief complaint is told to you by the patient
4. offer tissue to pts who cry
5. offer water to patients who cough
6. summarise at end of history
7. tell them you understand when they are upset
8 take permission for examination and simultaneously wash your hands
9. take permision for gown removal and dont forget to tie it again
10. Thank the pt to allow you for examining him
11. close the encounter by telling them the diagnostic plan and what culd be the cause.
12. never give them the definitive diagnosis but tell them you will get it soon enough
13. Ask if they any doubts
14. thank them again
there are stuff like open ended questions also but the list i give sums up the important ones
remeber they are your gurus who will grade you so be grateful..

sep: this can be perfected only by practice...

Remember that the sep and cis are almost the same and go hand in hand..

spend less time in the physical exam. Do all steps but you can make mistakes. write the pn or type it. But be clear with what you write and practice the possible dds for all the cases.

finally, if pray and dont look through the forums after your exams. you need to do 70 percent of the above to pass. I did only 60 and cleared. went through all forums and got stressed out. have confidence in yourself and you will make it.gud luck friends..anybody needs advice feel free to write.
