That is right mash!!!! grin What do you have to be careful about with this drug and why? What do you do to prevent it?

Cyanide toxicity as it nitroprusside releases cyanide, therefore administering amyl nitrite can be givein which would produce methemoglobin that would bind the cyanide and prevent it from inhibiting the electron trasnsport chain.

good rida!!! Incidentally, isn't nitroprusside given with thiosulfate when used in CHF?

Also, if you were interested in taking things farther.....you could potentially regenerate your Hb with methylene blue or vit C (ancillary treatment).
