I know is a terrible grade and is a lower score than your step1. But try to be + you passed the exam you passed in the 80+ dont give up

I am really sorry to hear to that, that is a major drop from such a high step 1 score. But that does not mean you will not get a residency. Most people have very few interviews at this point if any. Also it does depend on what you are going for, internal medicine vs surgery you know the drill. I tried to apply to some safe community programs, just in case. Can you please highlight what you did differently from step 1 to step 2. In retrospect if you know what went wrong, am sure that can be very helpful to thers.

the biggest change was that i have a daughter now and while i was giving my exam she was 13 months and she wouldnt let me study for 1/2 an hr. i would study at night . i was not sleeping properly but still i countinued. there was no one to look after her my husband was busy with his job infact 1 week before my exam he was out of town for 1 week which i knew was very crucial time. he was very supportive in step1 and then we didnt have a kid.maybe he was confident that i will do it this time also on the day of the exam i was not feeling good i was having severe headache had to take few tyelonls almost after every 2 blocks. the screen was getting blurry i know these are no excuses but i am telling u guys the scienerio. rest was up to GOD. i had totally differt feelings after giving step2 as copmared to step1 i wasnt expecting high nintees but atleast 90. rest is upto fate i can only pray now. i had to give step2 ck coz i had planned for it last year and was not able to give thought would study more and get good score but this is what i got wamimd i was applying for IM and FM in the first palce but now i think i should go for FM only. what about patho and neuro does anyone know do they take low scores

I think the combination of both your scores is still very solid for Internal Medicine. You should stick to that. I am sure that once your Dean's letter is available, you will be getting lots of interviews. I am sorry to hear about the stresses you have been through, thanks for sharing your experience. Good luck with the match

I guess I should have used the correct wording, lol, I meant when your Dean's letter is viewed or downloaded by your respective programs

Why did you expect a miracle to happen? Your NBME score shows that your score in the exam is exactly what you deserve , You shouldn't had sit the exam , I agreet that 85 is really low for the match! Again do not expect too much from the match ! Most programs refuse to give an interview to you while there are a lot of 95+ers out there!

stop making her feel bad, it is not a bad score, u passed on your first shot, and it's above 200 and 80 which a lot of programs want, even the 85 mark, stop whining!!! jeez, a lot of people dont pass on first shot, u probably dont have visa issues, so i'm sure it will be fine, u need to be conifdent and u'll get what u worked for.. if u are that upset at ur 'horrid' (NOT!) score, then study up and take step 3, but it's fine, people on here make you feel like if you dont get 99/99/99 you have no chance in hell, which is nonsense.. amp up your application with other things, get some reserach get some hospital exposure, get some connections and you will be fine.. dont blame your daughter, if you weren't ready to have a child, then you shouldn't have, but u did, so now live with it... wat is wrong with everyone??? stop blaming others people for our own mistakes, take it head on and accept the reality that you are not dumb, you've worked hard, you can do this!!! best of luck!!

The mean of this exam is 218-220 ,I think 203 is low , what about you? If we always deny the truth and just try to paly tricks on ourselves , in the long run we will suffer for sure . If she had accepted the truth before the exam , she would have got a better result now .But what happen , a gullible optimist like you told some lies to her and you can see the results now.

dude, back off, she took her exam with her timetable and how she wanted to.. i dont think anyone is in the right to judge her for her score, but what i am making reference to is that she shouldn't be seeking sympathy on here from people for 85 is NOT A BAD score!!! some people dont pass at all, ever!! so she is in her own right to be upset with herself, i just find it useless to post on here that her life is over and be so exaggerative.. now you my friend are just being rude, by saying 'yes that is an awful score' who are you to judge her?? that's beyond rude, please keep your judgements about whose score is bad or good to yourself because you dont seem to have any positive thoughts coming out of your head..i am not naive my friend, she assessed what she thought she could achieve, and she got what she got.. all i'm saying it is NOT a bad score as you are putting her down, just please stop making yourself feel better by belittling others for not getting 99s like yourself, calm down buddy.. best of luck..

not much time... i know how u must be feeling. but some programs do take an average of both scores...so urs will be ard 91 and u cannot change what has happened...u could just improve ur CV by doing some observership/research..get some good US LOR's and contacts...all this matters a lot! All i can say is scores are important but not everything. So keep the faith and work on other things which u can change now. Good luck!

and if they ask u in the interviews why ur scores are lesser than ur step 1..u could tell about the additional responsibilites u had to take during step 2 preps...and yes u could try and get a high 90's in step 3 as well so dont put a full stop here...its just one step! u have a lot more place u can improve to bank on. Hope this helps.

hi! first of all, cheer up. you passed the exam. with all those hardships you've been through, you still made it. im gonna tell you something and this is the truth. i have two friends, 1 is an immigrant and one is without a good visa. the one who is an immigrant got 78 on step 1 and 84 on step 2. when she took step 1 and got that score, she did not want to continue at all. she told me its not a good score and not worth trying at all. i told her, take step 2ck,told her if you pass it, then it means you are destined to be a doctor, if not then go ahead change your whole life. she is married and with a baby also that time. when she took step 2ck, she got pregnant again, but still passed the exam, with an 84. so, i told her, go ahead and try. you passed the exam for a reason. so she joined the matching, and she got matched. she wanted to be a pediatrician. she got into a program, and she is now in second year. during their transition from first year to second year, she even got the award for being the best first year among her batch. i remember her telling me the question that stand out from the program she is in now, she was asked what difference can you make in this program? i mean scores do play a big part in our chances of being match. but there are also other factors we have to consider. your exam is finished and done. and there is nothing you could do about it anymore. but the thing is work on the other stuffs that can make a big impact on your application. its the only thing you can control now. having a US clinical experience will definitely boost your application a lot, another thing is a good visa. so instead of feeling down, work on those things. things happen for a reason. im sure along the way you will see the reason for all of these. but stopping without giving it a try in the match will definitely not help you see that reason. give it a try, take a risk. and at the end, if you will succeed, you can post here and say to us, hey i made it, so can you! Good luck and ill include you in my prayers. oh, the other girl without a good visa, she got 75 in step 1 and 77 in step 2, she got matched, IM in detroit. she's very happy with her program. cheer up! you were given two most beautiful gifts in life, passing mle and having a baby. not many of us have what you have, its either passing mle or having a baby. but not so many having both
