what is the site of absorption of folates iron calcium ( FIC) is it the duodenum or the jejunum???? what about the site of absorption of vit B12 and Intrinsic factor??? thanks a lot for your answer...

Iron = duodenum Folate = jejunum (intestinal conjugase) B12 = ileum Folate absorption decreased with oral contraceptives, alcohol, phenytoin, pure vegan diet B12 absoprtion decreased with bacterial overgrowth, pernicious anemia, Crohn's disease

Vitamin B12 is absorbed in the ileum (with IF being broken down after it splits from the vitamin B12), folate is absorbed in the jejunum (?), and iron is absorbed primarily in the duodenum. Calcium is absorbed throughout the whole intestine, I believe. (Edit: Sorry - typed at the same time as Idiopathic...^^)
